14 October 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Psychotherapy Session

Confusion or Clarity? Which one do you feel when thinking about what to write in psychotherapy session notes?

Whether you are just starting out in practice, or want to brush up on your psychotherapy session note taking skills, this webinar will help you:

• Understand what needs to be included in psychotherapy session notes
• Learn how to reduce the time spent writing psychotherapy session notes while creating a record of what needs to be captured from client sessions
• Come up with a workable strategy for completing psychotherapy session notes and staying caught up going forward
• Discover resources to assist with writing psychotherapy session notes
• Meet CRPO regulatory practice standards for clinical documentation

This webinar will cover both the CRPO practice standard 5.1 and CRPO’s clinical record checklist as they relate to session notes in clinical psychotherapy records.

Following a walk-through of the session note taking process, participants in this webinar will have an opportunity to work in small groups to compose a session note for a brief fictitious client session putting into practice the skills learned in the webinar followed up with feedback from peers and the facilitator.

This is a live webinar only as it is both didactic and experiential (following CRPO’s Quality Assurance descriptions). This webinar will not be recorded.

About the facilitator: For Liane Wood RP, psychotherapy is an encore career following over 25 years as a registered insurance broker and chartered insurance professional. During her career in insurance, Liane spent significant time in management positions including holding ownership in two different independent insurance brokerages. She has extensive experience in designing and implementing processes and workflows with risk management in mind. Risk management is a process that identifies and creates procedures and processes specifically to avoid or minimize the impact of threats and risks to a business. Those risks or threats can be tangible, like a fire, or intangible like an audit by government agencies or regulators. For over 25 years the systems and processes Liane created, designed and implemented worked well enough to avoid major problems from both tangible and intangible threats and risks meaning her systems and processes consistently passed audits (government and regulator) and held up well through tangible threats. Since becoming a psychotherapist, Liane has focused on creating processes and workflows for psychotherapy practice in her own practice by taking numerous courses in clinical documentation and combining it with her past career experience. She now helps other psychotherapists with systems and processes in their practices. In 2021, Liane created and ran the highly successful RP Best Business Practices Seminar Series through the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP) and is the lead developer and creator of OSRP’s Mentorship Program being launched in 2022.
