FAQS
Questions About Anxiety Therapy
Can anxiety be cured, or will I always have to deal with it?
While anxiety disorders can be challenging, they are treatable. Therapy may significantly reduce anxiety symptoms and help individuals develop effective coping strategies. With the right support and tools, many people experience significant improvement and can lead fulfilling lives with manageable anxiety levels.
How long will it take for therapy to help me see a difference in my anxiety levels?
Can therapy really help me overcome specific fears and phobias?
Therapy, especially Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be highly effective in helping individuals confront and overcome specific fears and phobias. Therapists use evidence-based techniques to desensitize individuals to their fears and build confidence in facing them.
Is it normal to feel uncomfortable discussing my anxiety with a therapist?
Can I benefit from therapy even if my anxiety is not severe?
Therapy may be valuable for individuals with mild to moderate anxiety as well. Even if anxiety doesn’t severely impact your daily life, therapy can help you develop coping strategies, gain self-awareness, and improve emotional well-being, enhancing your overall quality of life.
Will there be homework?
In order to help you create lasting change, there will be practical things for you to do in between sessions so you can practice the tools and strategies you learn in therapy.
Do we have to meet in person?
We offer both in person and virtual sessions, and both work well for anxiety therapy.
How often do we meet?
It is best to get the first few sessions in together to establish a strong foundation. We usually do these sessions weekly and then determine what is best from there. Of course we can work with each client to establish a schedule that best serves your needs and their resources.
Will this get rid of the anxiety?
No! Life is full of anxiety. Our goal is to provide you with the tools to cope with anxiety in a healthy way so it doesn’t overwhelm and control you
